The card was sent as feldpost on the 14 of July 1944 to Hj-Boy Theo Smets.
 
Wolfgang Späte  earned the German in Cross in Gold on the 9th of December 1941  as Oberleutnant in the II./ Jagdgeschwader 54 and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on the 5th of October 1941 serving in the 5./Jagdgeschwader 54. On the 23rd of April 1942 he received the Oakleaves as Staffelkapitän in the 5./Jagdgeschwader 54.
