Militärpass der Kaiserlichen Marine(issued 1906) to Gefreiter Wilhelm Bendels, born on the 15th of April 1886.
 
He served 41 days on  "der Roon"( großer Kreuzer) and  42 days on "der Rugia" ( Passagierschiff)
 
During WWI he served in the Marine-Infanterie-Regiment 2 . 1914 he saw action in Antwerpen, Ieper, Lombardsijde... from then on he mostly participated in battles for the Yser in Flanders and the Somme in France. 1918 battles in Flanders, between Arras-Albert, in the Hermannstellung and Hundingstellung.
 
He was awarded the Iron Cross Second Class on the 25th of January 1918 for his actions during the fights in Flanders  in the winter of 1917/1918
