U-765 was sunk on the 6th of May 1944 in the North Atlantic by depth charges from two Swordfish aircrafts of the 825 Naval Air Squadron from the British Escort Carrier HMS Vindex, operating alongside the British frigates HMS Aylmer, HMS Bligh and HMS Bickerton.
