After his training with the the 2./Sch. Ers. Btl. 3 , he saw action with the 11 and 9 Kompanie of Schützen Regiment 3, part of 3. Panzer-Division at the Eastern Front.
His Wehrpass shows an impressive battle calender typical for the 3. Panzer-Division with battles in Minsk, Smolensk, Gomel, Kiew, Brjansk, Kursk, Charkow, Terek and Mius Front. On the 5th of July 1942 the Regiment was renamed to Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 3.
He was awarded the Panzer Assault Badge in Bronze on the 29th of November 1941 and the Ostmedaille on the first of August 1942.
Rudi Bierbrauer was KIA on the 18 of July 1943 in Werchopenje, southeast of Orel.
