Wehrpass to Unteroffizier Kurt Pompejus  He was born on the 30th of March 1916 in Saarbrücken.

 

He served in the RAD as Arbeitsmann from 1.10.1937 till 28.3.1938.

 

Kurt Pompejus  started his active military career in February 1939 with the 16./ E. Inf. Pz.Abw. I.R. 87 stationed at Wiesbaden.

 

He was trained with the K98 ,  PAK 3,7 cm, Pistole 08 and L.M.G. 34. He followed training for several Wehrmacht driving licences ( Klasse 1+2+3) and  a  "Fahrlehrerschein Klasse 2  (Vollkettenfahrzeuge)

 

He was promoted to Gefreiter d. Reserve (serving with the 10. Grenzwacht 132) on the first of November 1939 and to Unteroffizier on the first of February 1941.

 

After his training he saw action with the 10. Grenzwacht  132 during the French invasion of Saarland and the attack on the Maginotlinie south of Saarbrücken.

Unteroffizier Kurt Pompejus died during a training accident while his tank crashed/slipped down a slope together with 5 tankdriving trainees.

 

He was buried at the cemetary Paris-Ivry with 2 other soldiers that died in the same accident.

- 1 document of der Militärbefehlshaber in Frankreich issued Paris, the 10th of July 1944 with a slide of his grave and another grave picture
- 2 feldpost letters to his wife shortly before his death and 1 feldpost letter envelope which contained 6 newspaper obituaries
