Second Issue Wehrpass to Gefreiter Otto Meyer. He was born on the 18th of October 1924 in Betzendorf, Lüneburg.

 

Meyer started his active military career in October  1942 with the 10. /Grenadier-Feldausbildungs-Regiment III/ 637.

 

He was trained with the K98, L.M.G. 34 and leichtes Infanteriegeschütz 18. He followed an additional training as Feldkoch,(Feldküchenlehrgang IV. from 26.4..1943 till 1.5.1943) and as Fernsprecher (Fernsprechlehrgang in June 1944 with the Div. Nachrichten Schüle 35.

 

Meyer was promoted  to Gefreiter on the first of January 1944 and was also suitable to be promoted to Obergefreiter.

 

After his training with the 10. /Grenadier-Feldausbildungs-Regiment III/ 637 he served with the 5., 1. and 13. Kompanie of Grenadier Regiment 109, part of the 35. Infanterie Division( from 6.9.1943 till 25.9.1944). The battle calendar is typical for the 35. Infanterie Dvision with battles in Jelnja,  Smolensk, Mogilew and Bobruisk.

 

From 28.7.1944 till 25.9.1944 he served briefly as a Fernsprecher with the  3. Kompanie Panzerkorps-Nachrichten-Abteilung 441 (FPN34896), which was part of the XXXXI.Panzer-Korps under the command of General der Artillerie Hemuth Weidling, in the Bobruisk area.

 

After a couple of months with  the Grenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Kompanie 35 which was located in Strasbourg, Elsaß he was transferred to the newly formed Grenadier-Regiment 3 "Oberrhein" (formed in January 1945)

 

He was KIA on the 5th of February 1945  north of Straßburg serving in the 13. Kompanie of Grenadier-Regiment 3 "Oberrhein". See page 31 of the Wehrpass' Btl. Einsätze des Regiments (Kampfgruppe??) im Brückenkopf nördlich Straßburg."


He was awarded  the Wound Badge in Black on the 30th of October 1943, the EK2 on the 8th of February 1944 and the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver on the 22nd of February 1944.
