Wehrpass to Gefreiter Karl-Heinz Koch. He was born on the 15th of April 1914 in Dortmund.
Koch started his active military career in February 1941 with the 1./Nachrichten-Ersatz-Abteilung 16 stationed in Münster.
He was trained with the K98 and the Flakscheinwerfergerät 60 cm. He followed an additional training as Fernsprecher and followed trainings in several Nachrichten-Lehr-Regiments. He was also in the possession of the Wehrmachtsführerschein II. Klasse
Koch was promoted to Oberfünker on the first of April 1941 and to Gefreiter on the first of December 1942.
After his training with the 1./Nachrichten-Ersatz-Abteilung 167 he was trained/served in several Nachrichten-Lehr-Regiments e.g. 7./Korps-FF.Kabel-Lehr Kompanie, 8. and 9./ Nachrichten-Lehr-Regiment. He was then transferred to the 2./Nachrichten-Abteilung 256, part of the 256. Infanterie-Dvision, for action at the Eastern Front. The division saw heavy fighting in the Smolensk area during this period.
Karl-Heinz Koch was KIA on the 13th of September 1943 (only after 3 months of being active at the Eastern Front) south of Tarassowa, ca. 73 km north-east from Smolensk.
