Wehrpass to Obergefreiter Fritz Bädecker born on the 7th of September 1901  in Ganderkesee, Kreis Oldenburg.
 
Fritz Bädecker  started his active military career in July 1942 at the age of 41! with the 3./Technische-Ersatz-Abteilung  stationed at Pirna.

He was trained with the K98,  leichtes Maschinengewehr 26(t),Handgranate 24,Pistole08. He followed an additional training for Gewöhnungssprengungen (acclimatization to explosions), Pionier T.S., tech. Fach Kraft Kopft. 187/189
 
He was promoted to Gefreiter on the first of April 1944 and to Oberefreiter on the first of November 1944.
 
After training with the 3./Technische-Ersatz-Abteilung (23.7.1942-20.11.1942) he served in the 2./Techn. Ausbildungs Abteilung stationed in Pirna and later moved to Niederlahnstein. (21.11.1942-15.4.1943). From the 16th of April 1943 till the end of the war he served in the 2./Technische Abteilung V (motorisiert), reformed or renamed on 15.1.1944 to the 2./Technische Bataillon (mot.) 12.
 
From 16.4.1943 till 5.6.1944 his unit was part of the occupation forces in France and then saw action during the invasion in Normandy (Einsatz a.d. Kämpfen an der Invasionsfront).
 
The 2./Technische Btl. 12 was stationed in Cotentin and saw action in the defense of Cherbourg during the invasion. They later destroyed all port facilities in the city in order to prevent the Allies from capturing them.
