Wehrpass to Unteroffizier Kurt Buchheim.  He was born on the 6th of June 1920 in Leipzig.

 

Kurt Buchheim started his active military career in November 1937 as volunteer  with the 3.(mot.) Kompanie of Pionier-Bataillon 13 stationed at Pirna.

 

He was trained with the K98, LMG 13, Pistole 08 and MG 34. He followed an additional training as Militärkraftfahrer and Unterführerlehrgang from 17.11.1940 till 18.12.1940 in Pionier Bataillon 156.

 

He was promoted to Oberpionier 1.1..1938, to  Gefreiter on the first of June 1940, to Obergefreiter on the first of December 1940. He saw his last promotion to Unteroffizier on the first of July 1941 while serving in the 3.(mot)/Pionier Bataillon 156.

 

After his training he was action with the 3.(mot)/Pionier Bataillon 156,  part of the 56. Infanterie-Division, at the Western Front.  Holland (Maastricht, Venlo, Helmond), Belgium (Turnhout, Retie, Herentals, Antwerpen and Mechelen, Gent, Diksmuide, De Panne), France( Dünkirchen and  occupation forces)

 

The 56. Infanterie Division  was moved to Poland September 1940 and participated in Operation Barbarossa. His unit saw action in Kiev and Brjansk. From 1942 till Summer 1943 the division saw heavy action in the Orel Region. Kurt Buchheim was KIA on the 12th of July 1943 at Krassny, Orel region.

 

He was awarded the Medaille zur Erinnerung an  den 1.10.1938 (Sudetenland-Medaille), EK2 and the General Assault Badge (Allg. Sturmabzeichen) on the 3rd of November 1941 which was later entered on the 25th of August 1942 and confirmed by the Wehrmeldeamt Borna.
